Sandybelle, Hello Sandybelle

Many will say, hey, this does not go with the rest of maxtoons
shows!. I know, but Sandybelle is truly a great show, that was mad by great
people. I remembered it all my childhood, it was never forgotten. I think that
is due to the great job they did with dubbing it. After all it was made by the
same people who dubbed Treasure Island, and we all know how great that was.
Now, even thou that Sandybelle is Japanese
animation, it is all about a British story. I would understand why they would do
Treasure Island, it's a classic master peace that belongs to the world, but why
would the Japanese write a story about a Scotch girl in Britain? The story is
completely British and has no Japanese influence! I lived in England for some
time, I can see that the writer really captured a realistic picture about England.
The story line of Sandybelle is outstanding. It is like a fine
classic that will never go a way, such litterateur you don't come a cross
everyday. If I was to compare it to any fine work I have read, I would say "The
little princes" It has everything, but the thing that gives its kick, is the way
it keeps you looking forward for every episode. To put it in other words, I am a Grendizer guy, but I truly enjoyed every episode of Sandybelle.
My
friend Suzi from Australia sent me this great information which I find very
interesting:
I noticed your question of why would the Japanese
do a "British" based
story, well Hussein, they have done many shows based on other nationalities
for example
1- Lady Oscar
(French story at the time of the French revolution) dubbed
into Arabic by Kuwait
2- Remi (a classic British/French novel about a British child adopted by a
French family after being stolen from his rich family because of inheritance
issues, he then went in search for his real family...."Remi,
le garcon sans famille" which translates in English to

"Remi, the boy with no family", dubbed into Arabic by Lebanon
3- Sarah, the little princess (based on the classic novel) in Arabic it was
called "Sally"
4- Peppero The Andes Boy (also a story about a Latin American boy who
traveled up the Andes in search of his father who went to find the city of
Eldorado). In Arabic, the show was called Alnasr Althahabi, also dubbed by
Lebanese, probably the same team that dubbed Sasuke.
5- Georgie (a story of an Australian girl in the early 1900s, who was also
adopted by a family as a baby, and when she found out the truth, she went to
Britain in search of her own family) the dubbing was done in Kuwait, by the
same team that did Lady Oscar, Adnan wa Lina, Alrajoul Alhadidi.
6- There was also a show I remember seeing it as a child, the heroine of
which, was called Sawsan (Jordanian dubbing) who was either French/British
who was searching the world for a single flower with the seven colors of
the rainbow. It was a nice show, but I can't recall the details of the story
at all.
7-
Belle and Sebastian (a French story about a French boy who befriended a
dog called Belle and also went in a journey across the Perrine Mountains in
France in search of his gypsy mother) the dubbing in Arabic was done by
Lebanon and it was a great show.
8- "Lady Oscar"
The original name of the show was
"The Rose of Versailles" and
it was about a girl born to a high ranking official in the French army who
was longing to have a boy. And when he found out that his wife gave birth to
a girl, he was very upset, and decided to raise the girl as a boy giving her
the name "Oscar". She grew up as a boy, educated as a boy in all the martial
arts of the French army and joint it too as a commander when she grew up. No
one ever knew that she was in fact a female. She fell in love with a man,
and of course could reveal her feelings towards him because in doing so she
will be renouncing her duty towards the French army and her country.
The story took time at the time of the French revolution, and it was really
a brilliant very emotional show, with detailed elaboration on the lifestyle

of French nobility, and the struggle of the lower social classes in France.
By the way, it was dubbed by Kuwait in mid 1980s, and all characters kept
their original names. It was shown in Kuwait, Qatar, but it was banned from
Abu Dhabi TV just after the second episode (I guess they didn't like the
idea of a girl behaving and living like a man).
I know that it may not be your "type" of anime, well it is not like
Grendizer, but it was a brilliant show.
I think it might have been dubbed also to French and Italian.
As you may conclude the Japanese cartoons are either based on classic
novels, war robot anime, children searching for their parents, or sports
competition and championship.
Whatever they are, they were really terrific and the dubbing into Arabic was
also great.
Is there anything you would like to add?
